Fryhover Retirement Pt 1
From the Ag Information Network, this is today’s Fruit Grower Report. The Washington Apple Commission is looking for a new president after current president Todd Fryhover announced he’s retiring November 1st.
Fryhover says at 62, it’s time to step aside and go enjoy whatever time he has left with his lovely wife of 37 years …
FRYHOVER … “Yeah, my first job was when I was 12 years old. I went to work at Chere Best which was, at that time, owned by Mr. Jim Wade. So, that was quite a long time ago and I’ve been in the industry pretty much ever since.”
A Wenatchee native, Fryhover says it was meant to be …
FRYHOVER … “You know, when you grow up here as a kid in Wenatchee, there’s very few alternatives for summer work. So, it was just kind of a natural progression and when I went away to college, I went to a college that had a very good ag program, so I just pursued agriculture and the next thing I know here I am and I’m 62 years of age looking to retire.”
Fryhover says it’s time …
FRYHOVER … “November of 2006 is when I joined the Apple Commission and I believe it was December 1st of 2008 I became the president.”
As for retirement plans …
FRYHOVER … “My wife and I are talking about Golf Academy, and we want to do a little, just a little bit of traveling. Like I told my wife, I’ll go anywhere you want to go just as long as it’s in my pickup.”
